Build a detached garage that is a replica of a vintage gas station, complete with (non-functioning) vintage gas pump. The bays could have lifts (either 2 or 4 post for storage or work) and then the office area could be the awesome man cave are with a sweet TV and couches and beer and a slot car track.

This is slightly farther off the idea, but I remember seeing this one on TV a while back. It's a good concept, except it needs more garage and less living space.

That is cool. We are looking at building something like this at our next house (which we already own via inheritance). The house currently only has a car port. I'm stealing the idea from Ferris Bueller's Day Off. I doubt we'll do it in all glass, but our lot looks almost exactly like this. No gas pump planned.

I'm guessing that it was planned for demolition if it was on the market any longer or something like that. Somebody technically could have scooped it up with the purpose of making it into a functional garage again, but didn't.

The thing about garage conversions, In my parents neighborhood, they've got a neighbor with a three car garage filled to the brim with shit. No cars, in it. A Prius outside. Gah.

It's really misleading for a car guy. A neighbor of mine has a BRZ and a Mazda 3 in the driveway of a 2 car garage. So, before I saw the inside, I think, man this guy must like cars, what's hiding in the garage? Boxes :( Another neighbor has a new GT500 in his driveway. I have yet to look at his garage, but it's probably full of stuff as well.

My single car garage solely contains my car, and my bike. There is literally no room anywhere for shit. If I have shit that I need to store, it goes directly to the parents house/ Ex's back porch if I no longer desire it.

I'm doing that now as we speak. Bought an old 1930's house and will convert one end into a 50's style gas station replica. Have pumps, old oil stands etc.....
